Where Angels Fear to Tread

Hi, everyone !

Today for Literacy, we had to act as if we were in college, and so the way we completed and did our work wasn’t the same as usual, and quite different in certain ways to how we usually would complete it.

Below is the task that we all did as a class :))

━━━━━━━━━━

Where angels fear to tread

This task is about reading to find information and make inferences.
Read ‘Where angels fear to tread’, then answer the following questions.

a) How old is Ngorongoro Crater?

About two million years old.

b) What word does the writer use in the middle of the story to indicate that he wasn’t scared of buffalo?

“But they weren’t lions, only buffalo” implies that encountering buffalos didn’t faze him as much since he was relieved they weren’t lions.

c) What would have been a useful item to take on the walk to the lodge?

In the text, it mentions that it was very dark so bringing a flashlight or two would’ve helped them see through the darkness a lot better.

d) Explain how the saying in the final line, “Fools rush in where angels fear to tread”, goes with the story.

“Fools rush in where angels fear to tread” refers to a person who behaves impulsively; they don’t think before reacting. The saying goes with the story because a group of people, Halina and the speaker travel to Africa before knowing very little about it e.g. dangers, animals, people.

________________________________________________________________________
This saying goes with the story because they weren’t aware of how dangerous buffalos really are, and instead treated them like they were just a flock of New Zealand sheep since they went to Africa without knowing anything about it.
________________________________________________________________________
They also didn’t bring along any useful items with them on their stroll at night, which was very foolish of them to do since not only was there barely any light for them to see, but they also could’ve also ran into dangerous angry animals.

e) What two lessons could be gained from this story?

i. To not behave impulsively, and think carefully before doing or saying something.

ii. Be careful about what you do if you encounter dangerous animals to not provoke them.

Extn Escape Room Plan

Hi, everyone !

Recently for Extension, we have been split into different groups and are creating our very own escape rooms! Some people are creating theirs on Scratch/online, while others (including my group) are going to make one in real life.

My group is with Kiarah, Angelica and Finau.

We decided to make our escape room have a scary theme, and so it’s going to be based on the horror movie Smile. We have already planned out the riddles for our escape room, and below is how we envision the final room to look like!

Today we created the keys that we will be using and are looking forward to see how the final thing will look like :))

Solubility

Hi, everyone !

Today for Math in Room 4, we studied more about solubility in different groups. I was with Zaria, Vika and Isaiah.

We did this by pouring sugar into the water and gradually increased the amount of the solute that we poured into the solvent to see how much we could pour into the water until the solute wouldn’t dissolve anymore.

We used measuring spoons and added 5 grams after each one fully disintegrated into the solvent.

I hope you enjoy :))
